The Karo, numbering only 2000, a particular interest of Beckwith and Fisher, are renowned artists, painting their bodies with designs reflecting the forms of the natural world. Carol Beckwith and Angela Fisher are world-renowned photographers who have dedicated their lives to recording the traditional cultures of Africa. Having met in the early 1980s, they have travelled across 270,000 miles, through remote corners of 40 countries exploring more than 150 African cultures.
