The Midgard Serpent is one of the most infamous characters from Norse mythology.

A child of Loki, the young serpent named Jormungandr was thrown into the waters surrounding Midgard to put him somewhere that he could not make trouble.

There, Jormungandr grew to such a size that he could encircle the world and hold his own tail in his mouth. In this way, he becomes the Ouroborus, the symbol of infinity.

It is prophesized that at the end of days, Jormungandr will finally drop his tail and emerge from the waters to wreak destruction.

He will face Thor at Ragnarok, and the two will slay one another, but not before Jormungandr poisons all the worlds with his venom.

Jormungandr as the Ouroboros represents the unbroken cycle of life, and the things that men and gods fear most, but will need to face down one day.
